Silk Shorts … what to wear this weekend.

Silk shorts … one more outing.

I’m heading to the South of France this weekend, for a trip with a few of our buddies to a wonderful villa, which one of them is lucky enough to call home. Whilst the rest of the week I’ve been thinking AW14 with clients, my head is now spinning back in panic mode to all the summer clothes I thought I didn’t need anymore…aaaggghhh! It’s all a bit mind boggling switching seasons at the best of times, so I’m reaching for a trusty pair of silk shorts to see me through our planned evening out on Saturday for dinner.

The great thing about silk shorts this season is that they are also set to stay with us through the fall; and if this past London Fashion Week was anything to go by, they’ll be hanging around right on through to next summer. Investing in a pair of silk shorts is a win win. They are fabulous to wear thanks to the luxe texture, and they also come with an added dose of insouciant glam.

With any weekend away I always end up overpacking. But as a wise friend once pointed out, when you’re going somewhere glitzy, the biggest luxury is having outfit choices in your bag, so you can change your mind willy nilly when it comes to dressing up. I’m definitely with her on that, after all the traveling I did at the beginning of the summer, I can certainly attest to the fact that having a suitcase oozing with fashion choices is far more comforting than dull old capsule wardrobing your way through life.

Silk Shorts … how to wear them.

Bearing in mind my destination might be a tad warmer than Blighty, I’m working light layering into my look. These J.Crew silk shorts are the perfect pastel hue to go with just about anything, but I’ve chosen to pair them with this divine Whistles top which just landed in stores this week. For the chillier evenings I’ve opted for this marled J.Crew cardigan – for shoulder robing purposes only obvs!

A pre-requisite of a glam weekend away has got to be a pair of killer heels. You can’t get much more killer than this Sophia Webster pair. On the other end of the scale you don’t have to always spend a bomb on accessories. These Topshop sunnies hit just the right style note at just the right price.

I’ve had a bit of a thing about Chan Luu all summer, I’m especially into their layering necklaces like this agate one. Finally a great Rebecca Minkoff quilted leather bag is just big enough to throw some lippy and my new iPhone 6 in, to fend off calls from the kids who are not invited to our adult only glam weekend.
