Summer suits sorted
I’ve always been partial to dressing like a dude rather than sporting a skirt or dress, so when it comes to new season options my eye is naturally drawn to the more masculine looks like summer suits. That being said I’ve got a bit of thing for pink this season too – whether we’re talking the in your face fuchsia kind or the more demure blush, I keep buying the colour to the point where it’s becoming a bit of an obsession. So when it was time to start looking for a new season smartish look which could work from the office through to the weekend the answer kind of had to be pink summer suits.
Thanks to the trends for all things retro there are a pile of summer suits around which remind me of the sort I used to buy for work back in the 90’s. Back then my usual port of call would be Joseph or Theory. These days those brands are still designing on point workwear which is on trend as well as not too taxing on the purse strings front.
N.B.Markus Lupfer designs a slew of statement knits each season but at the recent round of press days for AW16, I spotted he’s moving into shoes which are equally statement-worthy… more on that in a later post.

To pick the right summer suits for your style make sure the jacket fits at the shoulders first and foremost. If there are other elements of the jacket that aren’t quite right but you love the look then get it altered by a local seamstress or tailor for a better fit.
I’m always a fan of a cropped tapered pant, but you can also pick up these summer suits with a flare, wide or straight leg pant so opt for whichever suits your style the most.
